Chemical peeling is a cosmetic dermatologic procedure that
reduces many of the signs of aging including fine and heavy wrinkling,
leathery skin, pigmentation, and scaling, or premalignant keratoses. We
offer three types of chemical peels, superficial, medium, and deep, as
well as Derma Peel® or micro dermabrasion. The depth of the peel is
determined by the specific peeling agent used, how aggressively it is
applied, and how long it is left on the skin. Peeling is a delicate procedure
that requires a skilled and experienced operator.
BETA LIFT® - Redefining
the superficial peel:
Beta Lift® is a unique lunchtime light peel that can work wonders
on your skin. This advanced skin renewal treatment features beta hydroxy
acid, i.e. salicylic acid. With Beta Lift® this takes just minutes
to apply and there is no down time. Your skin immediately looks and feels
smoother and tighter. Your face will temporarily appear a bit rosy, and
in a day to two your face may begin to peel sightly. The degree of peeling
can vary from a barely visible to mild to noticeable peeling or flaking.
This will depend upon your skin, and how many layers of the Beta Lift®
solution was applied to your skin.
MICRO DERMABRASION OR
DERMA PEEL®
This is another variation of a lunch time peel. Micro Dermabrasion takes
less than an hour to perform and most people return to work immediately.
The Derma Peel® procedure uses a highly controlled vacuum and pressure
system to move microscopic abrasive crystals across the skin's surface.
This action causes little or no discomfort and gently removes and exfoliates
the outer layer of skin. Derma Peels® are usually repeated every two
weeks for an initial period of three months. With each successive exfoliation,
younger skin moves to the surface, often revealing significant texture
and color changes.
MEDIUM DEPTH PEELS
Medium depth peels use trichloroacetic (TCA) solution concentrations ranging
from 20-50%. This peel is the most popular peel for mild to moderately
severe sun damage and other skin signs of aging. It has been used by dermatologists
for 50 years. It differs from the lighter and heavier peel, in that the
healing time occurs over two to seven days, and depending upon the strength,
this can be mild enough so that social activities need not be significantly
altered. Alternatively, when more aggressively applied, five to seven
days may be needed to heal. This peel does not eliminate crinkly, leathery
sun damaged skin, but has the advantage of being able to begin with lower
concentrations and can be repeated as desired at higher concentrations.
This cautious approach helps to minimize side effects while maximizing
benefits.

PHENOL PEELS
Deep peeling is done with phenol as the active agent. This is reserved
for those individuals with more pronounced sun damaged and course leathery
skin. It is the most effective treatment for deep facial wrinkling and
often helps sagging of the skin, as well as skin discoloration and moling.
It requires the longest time to heal, approximately seven to ten days,
during which social activities must be curtailed.

BODY PEELS
Body peels can be helpful in reversing and rejuvenating sun damaged skin,
non-facial sun damaged skin, including the neck, chest, arms, and legs.
A series of body peels can help improve crinkled, mottled, sun damaged
skin, leaving behind and stimulating the growth of fresher, softer, and
more youthful looking skin.
